About Me

My photo
I'm single, broke, and in my early 30s... but thankfully decided a while ago to sort my life out once and for all; in particular to sort out my finances, and to move forward into a debt free life. I'm hoping writing a blog will help spur me on through my social life cutbacks, my successful and not-so-successful attempts at dating, my new addiction to the Sainsbury's Basics range, and the general insanity caused by the stress of money troubles.

Plans beyond debt

Now that the end is almost in sight (just a few months away), I've been thinking about my plans for the extra money I should have once I'm not making debt repayments:
  • Save for trip to Colorado to see a relative and meet some extended family
  • Save £1000-£2000 as a back up fund for emergencies
  • Go on a short, cheap holiday with some sunshine, just to get away
  • Get various problems with my car fixed (air con doesn't work, only one speaker works etc.)
  • Give up second job
  • Enrol on a part time course in something I'm interested in, such as floristry, dressmaking etc.
  • Move away and have a fresh start
  • Start making extra payments on my mortgage?
Not sure what order I'll do these in, possibly moving away may come first, if I can find a decent job.
